UrbanPiper, a software-as-a-service platform that enables web and mobile commerce for hyperlocal retailers, has raised an undisclosed amount in a pre-Series A round of funding.
Kumar Vembu, co-founder of enterprise tech firm Zoho Corp, and existing investor Axilor Ventures put money in this round.
The startup will use the funds âto crystalize our analytics product that will turn data into actionable insights for restaurateursâ, co-founder and CTO Anirban Majumdar said in a statement.
UrbanPiper Technology Pvt. Ltd was founded in 2015 by Saurabh Gupta and Majumdar. Its suite of products offers omni-channel ordering and loyalty programmes for the restaurant industry. The software is integrated with point-of-sale players as well as aggregators like Zomato, Swiggy and FoodPanda, helping restaurants manage their online presence.
UrbanPiperâs customers include Bowl Company by Swiggy, Chilliâs India, Cure.Fit, Tata Global Beverages, Wok Express and Chai Point. The company also serves retail clients like Ratnadeep Supermarkets and is expanding its product suite to enable order management and loyalty in hyperlocal verticals.
âSince our investment a year ago, UrbanPiperâs customer base has grown 10x and their flagship product, Hub, has become like a clearing house for online food delivery, courtesy their tie-ups with all major food aggregators in the market,â said Payal Shah, head of investments at Axilor Ventures.
The startup claims that its solution can drive increased operational efficiency, including staff productivity. The solution has processed 1 million orders and powers over 2,000 locations.
Axilor Ventures is an accelerator and seed fund led by Infosys co-founders Kris Gopalakrishnan and SD Shibulal.
Last week, the investment firm led seed funding of 500,000 Singapore dollars ($3,83,000 or Rs 2.48 crore) in Appiyo Technologies Pte. Ltd, a business-to-business SaaS startup which offers enterprise workflow automation services.
Axilor had joined hands with The Chennai Angels last month to back Bengaluru-based SaaS customer engagement platform Survaider in a pre-Series A funding round.
In January, Axilor had led a $300,000 investment round in Gurgaon-headquartered employee rewards and recognition platform Advantage Club.
Last November, Bengaluru-based Open Appliances Pvt Ltd, which makes smart locks, had raised $550,000 from Axilor and Vembu.
