Delhi-based co-working space provider Creator's Gurukul has raised an undisclosed amount from cricketer Yuvraj Singh.

Singh will also be the firm’s brand ambassador for the next four years, it said in a statement.

“Creator’s Gurukul has mixed all the right ingredients and global alliances to create new age work places suited for modern-day requirements,” Singh said.

The startup was founded in December 2016 by IIT Delhi alumnus Abhinav Tandon and serial entrepreneur Mohammed Sirajuddin. It previously raised funding from high-net-worth individuals such as Shabir Momin (Singapore), Anubhav Kaul (Hongkong) and Jasmeet Singh (Canada).

Creator's Gurukul is launching its first centre, which has more than 500 seats, in Gurugram. It plans to launch one centre each in Mangalore and Delhi by the end of this year.

The concept of co-working has been gaining momentum in India. Earlier this month, New York-based shared workspace provider WeWork started operations in India by setting up a 2,200-seater facility in Bengaluru.

Recently, co-working startup BHIVE raised $1.2 million in a fresh funding round led by existing investor Blume Ventures.

Other co-working startups that have elicited investors’ attention include Delhi-based Awfis, which offers shared working space. It recently raised $20 million in a Series B round of funding from Sequoia Capital.

In April, The Office Pass, a co-working platform launched by Makaan co-founder Aditya Verma, raised seed investment worth $245,000 (Rs 1.5 crore) from a group of individual investors led by Arun Tadanki, former managing director of Yahoo Southeast Asia and India.

In February, Innov8 raised angel funding from Venture Catalysts and individual investors such as Paytm’s Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Google’s Rajan Anandan and others through the LetsVenture platform.

In January, Gurgaon-based InstaOffice raised pre-Series A funding led by online venture capital platform Globevestor and other angel investors, including Toppr’s Zishaan Hayath.

Yuvraj Singh launched $10-million seed-stage fund YouWeCan in 2015 to back internet startups in the country.

YouWeCan’s portfolio companies include business solution provider Startup Buddy, logistics startup Moovo, healthcare startup Healthians, online marketplace for chartered jets JetSetGo, automotive service marketplace Cartisan and sports startup SportyBeans.
