WPIL acquires pump manufacturing firm Mody Industries

Kolkata-based WPIL Ltd has acquired Mody Industries Pvt Ltd (F.C) (Mody Pumps), a pump manufacturing and marketing company operating in Thane, Maharashtra, for an undisclosed amount, as per a stock market disclosure.

Mody Pumps is engaged in manufacturing of submersible dewatering, non-clog sludge, sewage and non- submersible portable fire fighting pumps. It caters to industries such as power, shipbuilding, steel and mining besides serving the needs of the Indian Navy.

The acquisition will help WPIL to strengthen its product offering and penetrate into the sewage and dewatering market sector.

In March 2012, the firm had acquired pump business of South Africa-based PSV Services Pty Ltd. In 2011, WPIL acquired UK-based Mathers Foundry Ltd for an undisclosed amount.

Founded in 1952, WPIL manufactures and sells spares and accessories of pumps and its manufacturing units are located at Ghaziabad, Taratalla and Sodepur with aggregate capacity of 30,000 tonnes per annum.
