Mumbai-based start-up Webklipper Technologies Pvt Ltd, which offers online surveys and feedback tools for e-commerce sites, vertical search sites and blogs, has raised its first round of funding from the Indian Angel Network, led by Google India chief Rajan Anandan in his personal capacity.
Other investors in the round include Sunil Kalra, Sadeesh Raghavan, Ashim Mehra, Nitin Singhal, Pradeep Gupta and Harish Mehta. However, further details of the deal size have not been disclosed.
The funds raised will be utilised for product development, global expansion, marketing and hiring.
As the lead investor in WebEngage, Anandan has now joined the companyâs board of directors. âThe World Wide Web has now crossed two billion users and there are millions of Web-based businesses across the world. Deeply engaging with users is one of the most important priorities for such businesses and WebEngage provides simple yet powerful SaaS-based solutions to help businesses achieve customer satisfaction, marketing and sales objectives. We are confident that WebEngage will set new standards in customer engagement, and real time customer feedback,â Anandan told Techcircle.
Anandan has also angel-invested in companies such as Bangalore-based mobile CRM start-up Capillary Technologies, managed services company eTechies and dating site Ignighter.
Webklipper Technologies was founded in October 2010 by ex-Burrp.com employees Avlesh Singh, Ankit Utreja and Manish Kashyap. It has developed two online solutions so far â for feedback and contextual surveys â under the WebEngage brand, which are integrated into websites. WebEngage has been commercially launched this month and the company has over 400 clients such as Cleartrip, Future Group, One97 Communications, BuyThePrice, Flora2000, Home Town and Just-Eat Global.
âWe are confident that the investment will help us accelerate growth and expand in markets outside India,â said Avlesh Singh, co-founder and CEO of Webklipper Technologies.
WebEngage competes with popular engagement solutions such as SurveyMonkey, UserVoice and GetSatisfaction. Its USP, according to the company, is highly targeted surveys which are based on behaviour, geography and profiles of visitors to the websites.
