VCCEdge has released its Monthly Deal Update for October 2011.
Highlights -
Private Equity:
- Private Equity investments in October 2011 witnessed a yearly low recording $271 million across 26 deals.
- Growth capital/late stage investments went up by $2 million from $231 million in October 10 to $233 million in October 11.
- The average deal amount went up by over 30% from $13 million in October 2010 to $17 million in 2011.
- The median deal amount increased from $10 million in October 2010 to $11 million in October 2011.
- Private equity deals under $50 million accounted for53.84% of total deal volume.
- Private equity deals above $50 million accounted for 40.5% of the total capital invested during the month.
- Private equity exits dropped over 60% both in terms of exit volume and exit value as compared to October last year.
Mergers & Acquisitions:
- M&A deal value dipped from $1.04 billion in October 2010 to $991 million this month.
- Compared to the same period last year, deal values dipped by by 69% and 42% across Domestic and Outbound deals respectively.
- The Median deal size remained unchanged, while the Average deal size dropped from $36 million to $34 million as compared to October 2010.
- Deals under $50 million accounted for 33.33% of total deal volume in October 2011.
- Big ticket deals ($100 million and above) continued their dominance accounting for 60% of the total disclosed M&A deal value in the month.
