VCCEdge has released its Monthly Deal Update for November 2012.
- Private equity investments in India in November 2012 dropped 46% in terms of deal value to $491 million as compared to $901 million in November 2011.
Growth capital/late stage investments decreased 43% from $800 million to $453 million. The average deal amount increased from $20 million to $22 million. The median deal amount increased by nearly threefold from $4 million in Novâ 11 to $11 million in Novâ 12. Private equity deals under $50 million accounted for 40% of total deal volume in Novâ 12. Big-ticket deals ($100m and above) accounted for 37% of the total capital invested. Private equity exits in India increased tenfold in terms of exit value. Exit volume also increased by 80% (4 deals) as compared to the same period last year. - M&A deal value significantly increased from $571 million in November 2011 to $9.2 billion this month.
Deal values increased by 1.3x for domestic deals while inbound and outbound deals increased significantly by 12.3x and 110.4x, respectively. The average deal size increased 14.9x from $23 million to $341 million. The Median deal size increased 80% from $10 million to $18 million. Deals under $50 million accounted for 31% of total deal volume in Novâ 12. Big ticket deals ($100 million and above) accounted for 96% of the total disclosed M&A deal value.
