VCCEdge has released its Monthly Deal Update for November 2011.
Highlights -
Private Equity:
- Private Equity investments in November 2011 grew 17.65% to $620 million across 58 deals.
- Growth capital/late stage investments went from $461 million in November 2010 to $492 million.
- The average deal amount dropped from $38 million in November 2010 to $19 million.
- The median deal amount increased 22% from $9 million in November 2010 to $11 million in 22011.
- Private equity deals under $50 million accounted for 51.72% of total deal volume.
- Big-ticket deals ($100m +) accounted for 25.32% of the total capital invested during the month.
- Private equity exits dropped over 82% in terms of exit volume and 97.57% in terms of exit value as compared to November last year.
Mergers & Acquisitions:
- M&A deal value dipped from $4.13 billion in November 2010 to $569 million this month.
- Compared to the same period last year, deal values dipped by 96.52% and 59.8% across Outbound and Domestic deals respectively.
- The median deal size dropped from $38 million in November 2010 10 to $11 million in 2011.
- The average deal size reduced 5x from $125 million to $25 million during the same period.
- Deals under $50 million accounted for 40% of total deal volume in November 2011.
- Big ticket deals ($100 million and above) accounted for 2% of the total disclosed M&A deal value in the month.
