Unilazer Ventures appoints Supratik Sen as CEO of sports management unit

Media industry veteran Ronnie Screwvala’s private investment outfit and holding company Unilazer Ventures has hired Supratik Sen as the CEO for Unilazer Sports.

Unilazer Sports is a new unit under Unilazer Ventures and will focus on sports management besides being involved with sports academies and seeks to create IPs and franchises in two or three select sports.

Sen joins in from Red Bull India where he was national head for sports and events marketing. He is former national rugby player, who was also a professionally trained footballer and cricketer who spent the last five years at Red Bull India leading all their marquee projects with athletes, sports projects and events in the country.

Before joining Red Bull, Sen worked with Australian company Repucom. Prior to that, he has also worked with sports, event marketing and media management companies such as Procam, Percept D’Mark and E-Sense Entertainment.

Sen comes with 15 years of work experience in sports marketing and talent management. His journey began in Future Hope India that works at grassroots development of sports in eastern India.

Unilazer Ventures was floated a couple of years ago by Screwvala, the founder of UTV. He set up Unilazer Ventures after selling UTV to Disney.

Unilazer Ventures has been focusing on making private investments to date in segments like consumer, services, agriculture, healthcare, education, micro finance, etc.

Most recently, Unilazer Ventures picked up 25 per cent stake in  EkStop Shop Pvt Ltd, the company that owns and operates the online grocery store EkStop.com. Other portfolio companies of the firm include Valyoo Technologies, INI Farms and Himex.

With Unilazer Sports, it is moving beyond being an investment firm to become a holding company of new businesses.
