UK-based testing services provider Exova Group Plc has acquired Mumbai-based Metallurgical Services Private Limited, an independent material testing laboratory promoted by Ranjeet Mehta, for an undisclosed amount, as per a company statement.
The deal, which is Exova’s sixth acquisition within a year, will help expand the UK firm’s geographical reach to India and augment its offerings to customers in emerging Asian markets, the release said.
“As an emerging market, the Indian subcontinent is forecasting significant industrial growth. Metallurgical Services has established an enviable market reputation which, combined with Exova’s technical capabilities and operational infrastructure, means we are well placed to capitalise on this growth,” Hicham Abdallah, managing director for Exova in Middle East and Asia Pacific, said.
Exova provides laboratory based testing, calibration and related advisory services worldwide in the areas of calibration and metrology, chemistry, coatings testing, composites, corrosion testing, failure analysis, fire safety, materials testing, metal technology, microbiology and structures and systems.
Metallurgical Services was founded in 1964 and currently employs 130 specialists who support over 3,500 customers mainly throughout the western region. Following the acquisition, the company will now operate under the Exova Metallurgical Services brand.
The firm is a provider of metallurgical, mechanical, corrosion and other testing services to customers in high-growth sectors including oil and gas, industrials and infrastructure across the country.
