IT services and consulting firm Tech Mahindra has formed a partnership with IBM to help improve its data centre capabilities, it said in a statement.
IBM will help Tech Mahindra customers shift their heavy workloads onto the newly released POWER 9 data array systems. According to IBM, the new POWER9 processor improves the training time of deep-learning frameworks by nearly four times, allowing enterprises to build more accurate artificial intelligence (AI) applications faster.
Deep learning is a fast-growing machine learning method that extracts information by crunching through millions of processes and statistics to detect and rank the most important aspects of the data.
Tech Mahindra's multi-year partnership with IBM is focussed on the IT firm's services around virtualisation, data center transformation and high-performance computing, The Economic Times reported. Tech Mahindra, which is also an IBM business partner, helps its customers move to POWER-based solutions.
The IT services company has also partnered with ContextSpace Solutions Ltd, a privacy research and development firm based in Israel, to develop a software privacy ecosystem, MyData Shield.
The cloud-based âsoftware privacy ecosystemâ enables corporate software developers and startups to meet tough, global privacy and data protection regulations, the company said.
By 2020, over one-third of all data will live in or pass through the cloud, with data production in 2020 being estimated at 44 times higher compared to 2009, it said.
"Based on our experience in the cybersecurity and risk management, we know that privacy protection is a core technology challenge and true personal data protection cannot be achieved in a piecemeal manner. Our answer is to launch a cloud-based service that will seamlessly protect personal data privacy for any application,â said Rajiv Singh, senior vice president and global head, enterprise security and risk management, Tech Mahindra.
