In the 46th episode of TC Show Off, a weekly initiative that provides startups a platform to showcase their businesses, CareerGuide.comâs founder and CEO Surabhi Dewra explains how her firm is connecting students with experts for instant career advice.
Users can log on to CareerGuide.com (formerly Meracareerguide.com), select the category and the portal will connect them to a career expert who can answer questions and clear doubts. It also records the conversation to rate the expert via a five-star rating system.
âIn this country, there are review sites for movies, books and other categories. However, there are few sites which gives students access to career information,â Surabhi, an alumnus of Birla Institute of Technology and Science, said.
She said that CareerGuide.com (run by Delhi-based Catalog Educational Services Pvt Ltd) targets students in the age group of 13-21. The company, which was founded in 2009, deploys scientifically designed career assessment techniques and uses channels such as IVR, telephony and e-mail to dish out career advice. Itâs psychometric career assessment tools help students to choose a career on the basis of their aptitude, personality and interests. CareerGuide.com charges a fee of Rs 999 for a 45-minute counselling session.
Prior to CareerGuide.com, Surabhi had worked with companies such as Freescale Semiconductor and Hetero Drugs Ltd.
CareerGuide.com claims to work with over 200 career experts who have addressed queries from over 125,000 students so far. The company aims to reach out to one million students this year.
