Tata Sons Ltd, the holding arm of the diversified business conglomerate Tata group, has named Sunil Sinha as resident director for Middle East and North Africa (MENA), according to a statement. The group is looking to set up an office in Dubai for the MENA region in partnership with Tata International.
"The office's objective is to further enhance and strengthen Tata Sons' engagement with all stakeholders in the MENA region, facilitating business growth for Tata group companies, especially in focus sectors that are crucial to development in MENA and are of strategic interest to the group," it said in a statement.
The proposed MENA office will report to Madhu Kannan, member, group executive council, Tata Sons. Kannan had quit as chief executive officer of the Bombay Stock Exchange to join Tata Sons two years ago. He reports directly to Cyrus P Mistry, chairman of Tata Sons.
Sinha, who has been with the Tata group for over 31 years, most recently served as CEO of Tata Quality Management Services, where he was involved in driving the agenda of business excellence, management of business ethics, innovation, sustainability, corporate governance and safety in group companies.
Sinha is currently also serving on the board and audit committee of Tata Auto Comp Hendrickson Suspensions Pvt Ltd and the advisory board of the Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning (SCDL).
A mechanical engineering graduate from the Bihar College of Engineering, Patna, Sinha completed the Advanced Management Programme from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France, in 2004, and the Advanced Strategic Management Programme at IMD, Lausanne, in 2011.
