Tata Advanced Systems acquires majority stake in Aurora Integrated Systems

Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL), a subsidiary of Tata Sons, has acquired majority stake in Bangalore-based Aurora Integrated Systems Ltd (AIS).  AIS develops indigenous technology and manufacturing and integrating state-of-the-art airborne systems, with a focus on small Unmanned Aerial Systems.

PXV Law Partners advised Aurora Integrated Systems and AZB and Partners assisted TASL.

AIS was started by a team of seven graduates from IIT Kanpur. AIS’ core competencies include embedded systems development, computer vision solutions, aircraft design, network solutions and guidance & control.

Tata Advanced Systems, incorporated in 2012, is a fully owned subsidiary of Tata Sons. The company is a key provider of support in technology sourcing and management, production of defence technology, obsolescence management, project execution and life-cycle support.

Tata Advanced Systems functions across defence, aerospace, surveillance technologies, marine applications, aero-Structures and homeland security. Tata Advanced Systems is both a holding and an operational company.

In a similar deal in this segment, Piramal Enterprises acquired 27.83 per cent stake for $7 million in Bluebird Aero Systems, an Israeli unmanned air systems manufacturer.
