Ron Conway of SV Angel in Silicon Valley is one of the hottest VCs in the US startup ecosystem. Most recently Conway hit the headlines when he and Yuri Milner, the rock star CEO of Russia’s Digital Sky Technologies, announced that the duo will invest $150,000 in each of the 43 startups coming out of Y Combinator‘s three-month bootcamp for startups.
Conway is the most active angel or seed investor in Silicon Valley. He has been in the business for the last 30 years or so and is said to be making at least three to four investments a month. He is known for backing hot companies like Facebook (2006) and Twitter (2007). His other investments include Gowalla (2009), Seesmic (2007), Weebly (2007), Mint (2006), Kaboodle (2006) and Digg (2005). He has also earlier invested in companies like PayPal and Napster.
What is news is Business Insider has leaked the investments made by Conway since 2005. He has invested in 228 companies since then. SV Angel website doesn’t have the portfolio information nor does the Wikipedia entry on Conway has all his portfolio companies listed out. So most of his investments have not been revealed probably because they were in stealth mode or for other competitive reasons.
The interest in this list is that it will offer a window to the startup activity in Silicon Valley. It has the startup’s name, the area of business, and the founder’s details. It’s a listing of hot business ideas, even though many of them are not appropriate for India.
