Hevo Data, Inc., a data integration platform launched by the co-founders of online meal delivery startup SpoonJoy, has raised $1 million (Rs 6.5 crore) in seed funding led by IDG Ventures India, a press statement said.

A cloud-based software-as-a-service startup, Hevo leverages machine learning to understand the source schema for various data sources such as databases, cloud applications, and sensor data. Its cloud-neutral products run on Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud as well as Microsoft Azure. The company also offers an on-premise version for large enterprise customers who want to maintain their own private cloud.

San Francisco- and Bangalore-based Hevo claims to have online food delivery service Swiggy and fitness startup CureFit among its customers. The company was founded in 2016 by SpoonJoy co-founders Manish Jethani and Sourabh Agarwal.

SpoonJoy, which raised $1 million from SAIF Partners in May 2015, was acquired by hyperlocal grocery and fresh food delivery platform Grofers a few months later. The company had shut down operations in Delhi and parts of Bangalore before being acquired.

“While trying to solve a similar problem in my previous roles as vice president - product management at Grofers, and as a CEO in my previous startup, we realised the existing set of tools... are not the right fit for the current needs of the market, which require a cloud-native solution designed for a real-time streaming data,” said Jethani.
