US-based Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) Corporation, a business information and risk management solutions provider, has elevated India-born Sara Mathew as D&B’s global chief executive officer (CEO).
Mathew, who was earlier president and COO of D&B Corporation, succeeds Steven W Alesio, who retires from the post on June 30, 2010.
Mathew’s appointment will be effective from July 1, 2010, said a company statement. Sara Mathew, who holds a bachelor's degree in physics, chemistry, and mathematics from Women's Christian College in Chennai, joined D&B in 2001 as chief financial officer. She is also a member of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants in India.

On Mathew’s appointment, Alesio said, in a statement, she is a seasoned business leader with strong financial, strategic and operational background that will be instrumental in leading the company’s international business to high-growth, and in re-shaping the direction of its North American businesses.
