Avigo Capital Partners, a Delhi-based private equity fund focused on mid-market companies, has appointed S Harikrishnan as investment director. Harikrishnan will be responsible for the investment proposals originating from Avigo’s Mumbai office, he told VCCircle.
Avigo primarily invests in Indian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) engaged in engineering & manufacturing, and domestic consumer demand driven industries. It has currently over $300 million under management. The firm has successfully raised and invested two funds, Avigo SME Fund I and Avigo SME Fund II, and currently raising its third Fund, Avigo SME Fund III, which made its first close at $165 million in May 2009.
Prior to his joining Avigo, Harikrishnan was working as investment principal at Lazard Ltd, an investment bank. He was also vice president at private equity firm UTI Ventures.
Avigo has been active in the Indian private equity space since 2003. Some of the portfolio companies of Avigo include fashion retailer Spykar, material handling company Tecpro Systems, packaging firm Bharat Box Factory, E-governance services firm Comat Technologies and turnkey services provider Get Engineering and Construction.
