Reliance Capital’s CEO Sam Ghosh quits

Soumen (Sam) Ghosh, executive director and group chief executive officer who has led Reliance Capital Ltd for the last nine years, has quit, the firm said on Friday.

He joined the company in April 2008. Before joining Reliance Capital, Ghosh was the regional CEO of Middle East and India sub-continent region of Allianz, a German insurance company.

Prior to that, he was the CEO of Bajaj Allianz Life and General Insurance and set up operations for Allianz in South East Asia.

He spent ten years in Australia in various senior roles with Allianz - from CFO to managing subsidiary companies as well as setting up operations in the Pacific Rim.

Ghosh is a CA and a mechanical engineer.

Reliance Capital, the financial services holding company for Anil Ambani’s Reliance Group, is yet to decide on a replacement for Ghosh.

Reliance Capital is into various businesses including asset management, insurance, home finance, NBFC and asset reconstruction. It has formed a string partnership with Japan’s Nippon for insurance and asset management business.

It is also looking to take its home finance arm public.
