Podcast: Madhu Iyer on how she ended up at Rocketship despite plans to float own fund

Earlier this year, Silicon Valley-based early-stage venture capital firm Rocketship.vc, which has invested in Indian startups such as NoBroker, Moglix and KhataBook, said it has appointed Madhu Shalini Iyer as a partner.

Iyer's appointment as a partner in the venture capital firm was significant in an industry that is largely dominated by men.

Prior to this appointment, she was chief data officer at San Francisco-based fintech startup EthosLending. She also worked as chief data officer and board member for Gojek, Indonesia's first unicorn, between June 2016 and March 2017.

In this VCCircle Podcast, Iyer tells how she had initially intended to float her own fund but eventually decided to take up the role of a partner at Rocketship.

She also talked about why more women need to be in the top management of venture capital firms and what it takes to be a successful professional woman.
