Persistent Systems to buy Akumina content management business

Persistent Systems Ltd has agreed to purchase the assets and hire the employees of US-based software company Akumina Inc's content management services business in its second acquisition in five months.

The Pune-based software product and technology services provider didn't disclose financial terms of the acquisition in a stock market disclosure.

The deal is subject to customary closing conditions.

Incorporated in 2011, Akumina is a SharePoint web solutions company that develops and deploys web content management solutions on Microsoft technologies.

It offers InterChange content authoring and site management applications, and specializes in delivering sites and strategies based on SharePoint 2013 and the Ektron web content management platform.

The company counts Walmart, Dolby, Tandem Diabetes and Lesley University among its clients.

In July, Persistent Systems had acquired Ireland-based technology firm Aepona Holdings Ltd for an undisclosed amount.

Founded in 1990 by IIT Kharagpur alumnus Anand Deshpande, Persistent develops software solutions in next-generation technology areas, including analytics, Big Data, cloud computing, mobility and social, for the telecommunications, banking and financial services, life sciences and healthcare verticals.

With more than 7,000 employees, the company has offices and delivery centres across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. In India, it operates out of offices in Bangalore, Nagpur, Goa and Hyderabad.
