Persistent Systems appoints Siddhartha Chatterjee as CTO

Pune-based Persistent Systems Ltd, a software product and technology services provider, has appointed Siddhartha Chatterjee as its chief technology officer (CTO), according to a press release. Chatterjee is based in the US.

He was vice president for development and delivery integration of IBM's SoftLayer acquisition. During his 13-year stint at IBM, Chatterjee held multiple technical, strategic, managerial and executive positions across IBM Research, IBM Systems & Technology Group and IBM Global Technology Services.

“Sid brings extensive technology depth and experience that will be key in helping us further formulate and drive our technology-centric business strategy,” Anand Deshpande, CEO of Persistent Systems, said.

Prior to joining IBM, Chatterjee was associate professor of computer science at The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where he worked from 1994 through 2001. He also worked as a post-doctoral scientist at the Research Institute for Advanced Computer Science (RIACS) at Moffett Field, California from 1991 to 1994.

He earned an undergraduate degree in electronics and electrical communications engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1985 and did his Ph.D in computer science in 1991 from Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, the US.

Founded in 1990 by IIT Kharagpur alumnus Anand Deshpande, Persistent develops software solutions in next-generation technology areas, including analytics, Big Data, cloud computing, mobility and social, for the telecommunications, banking & financial services, life sciences and healthcare verticals.

With over 7,000 employees on board, the company has offices and delivery centres across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. In India, it operates out of offices in Bangalore, Nagpur, Goa and Hyderabad.
