Bangalore-based parenting startup BabyOnBoard has raised seed investment from Anant Pandit, founder of Gana Yantrika Systems and former president of software firm Omnesys.
Others who participated in the round include Mahavir Sharma of Rajasthan Angel Investors Network (RAIN), Vishal Jain of Honeywell, Rohit Sethi from consulting firm Arthur D. Little, Dubai and Gaurav Luniya of CMS Systems.
The company plans to utilise the capital for product development and enhancing user experience on the platform. It also plans to launch a mobile website and an iOS version of the app.
BabyOnBoard was previously selected for social media giant Facebookâs FbStart programme, which provides startups credits worth $40,000 and access to more than 25 services.
The firm was founded in October 2016 by IIM Bangalore alumni Rakesh Shivran and Aditya Kulkarni, who sold his previous venture Learning Outcomes to Liga EduTech Pvt. Ltd in July 2015.
BabyOnBoard, which helps parents save memories of their baby and share the parenting journey with family and friends, claims to have more than 25,000 parents on the platform.
âWith the new features being built which will be released in the next three weeks, parents can easily discover the best for their baby through experts and other moms,â Shivran said in the statement.
In the broader parenting space, a bunch of startups have come up in India. BabyCenter, BabyChakra, Parentune, ZenParent, Parentedge, KIDSS (Kid Social Shell) and MyCity4Kids are some of the players.
Earlier this month, Gurgaon-based Proparent Solutions Pvt. Ltd, which runs online community for parents Parentune, raised an undisclosed amount in its second round of funding from existing investor Kae Capital and Singapore-based SEGNEL Ventures.
In October last year, BabyChakra, which connects parents to services and products for babies, had raised an undisclosed amount in its Series A round from RoundGlass Partners.
In May 2016, ParentLane, an app-based social platform for babycare and parenting, received an undisclosed amount from Cloudnine Hospitalsâ co-founder and managing director Rohit MA.
