Opportunistically will go for acquisitions, strategically no: SRL CEO Sanjeev Vashishta

SRL, India's largest diagnostics chain, will go for acquisitions if it finds assets for value even as it believes that it is by and large done with its expansion in the country. In an interview with VCCircle, the company's CEO Sanjeev Vashishta said, "Opportunistically yes but strategically no."

Vashishta also said that the challenge is not so much from the growth of the PE-backed regional players as the diagnostics industry is big enough to accommodate them. What is worrying, Vashishta said, is whether the companies are following the essential quality standards so that consumers are not taken for a ride.
