Bangalore-based Home Interior Designs E-commerce Pvt Ltd, the startup behind Livspace, an online marketplace for personalised home interior design and décor, has acquired DezignUp, a marketplace of design professionals, as per a company statement.
As part of the deal, co-founders of DezignUp and its core team will join Livspace.
Post the acquisition, Livspace will offer more scale and choice to homeowners to design their homes.
"We are already hitting a multi-million dollar run rate in our business, and our key reasons for acquiring DezignUp was to scale our business even faster and offer more design choice to homeowners” said Anuj Srivastava, co-founder, Livspace.
“Livspace’s technology and design capabilities when complemented with DezignUp’s community and marketplace will make the combined entity stronger and bigger,” added Saurabh Jain, co-founder and CEO, DezignUp.
DezignUp is an online community where homeowners and design enthusiasts discover inspirations, interior designers, architects and designer products to design a home.
Livspace was founded in 2012 by Anuj Srivastava, Shagufta Anurag and Ramakant Sharma. Srivastava is an IIT Kanpur graduate, who earlier headed product marketing for many e-commerce and online advertising products in Silicon Valley. Anurag, an architect, earlier founded Space Matrix, a corporate interior design company. Sharma is an IIT Kanpur graduate and was previously VP (engineering) at Myntra.com.
The startup enables homeowners to discover thousands of pre-created looks for rooms, kitchen and storage areas in their homes at the click of a button. Customers can select and purchase these looks, which are created by international designers, and personalise them (by material, colour, style) online. The startup will then deliver the items at the customers’ doorsteps.
The company claims to have hundreds of interior design looks and over 25,000 SKUs that are being personalised by homeowners on a daily basis.
Livspace has partnered with many real-estate developers in the country and also offers a ‘find your apartment’ feature to offer pre-created, ready-to-install interior design for customers who buy homes from these developers.
It is currently focused on the top cities of India, including Bangalore, Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai.
