Postdot Technologies Inc., which operates Postman, an API-testing and development platform for developers has raised $7 million (Rs 46 crore) in a Series A round of funding from Nexus Venture Partners, according to statement released by the company.
Postman was launched in September 2013 by Abhinav Asthana (CEO), Ankit Sobti (CTO) and Abhijit Kane (product architect). Asthana, a former Yahoo intern, ran a panoramic photo app TeleportMe before launching Postman. Sobti is an ex-employee of Adobe while Kane had worked with Walmart Labs earlier. The firm has offices in Bangalore and San Francisco
Since its inception, the firm claims to have more than three million active installations and a customer base that includes more than 1.5 million active monthly users at 30,000 companies.
âWe created Postman to address issues that I confronted personally as a developer, and our overwhelming market acceptance shows that this was a critical need. The need for Postman in an API developerâs workflow will only grow as this market expands,â said Asthana in the statement.
The freemium version of the tool includes an app for Chrome, Mac and Windows, while itâs paid product, Postman Cloud, is a subscription service that provides additional collaboration, testing and documentation tools for both small and large development teams.
Box, Walgreens, Intuit, IBM, VMware and Apigee are some of Postmanâs clients.
Nexus Venturesâ previous investments this year include on-demand logistics service provider GoPigeon in September where it had put in $1.5 million (around Rs 10 crore) in a pre-Series A funding round.
Nexus was also part of a funding round led by Sequoia Capital India in Silicon Valley-based cloud backup and data protection firm Druva Inc. The startup secured $51 million (Rs 340 crore) from new and existing investors.
