Diversified media and entertainment group Network18 has appointed former Bennett Coleman & Co. Ltd (BCCL) executive Sachin Tagra to bolster the group's media-focused investment arm Capital18, it said in a statement.
Tagra, who was earlier associated with BCCL's ad-for-equity arm Brand Capital, will now be working as vice president of Capital18, which bets on media, entertainment and technology ventures.
"I am excited to join Network18 Group and build the platform to invest its media assets into fast-growing companies," said Tagra, an alumnus of Delhi University.
Capital18 has backed several companies in the past, including Bengaluru-based e-learning implementation company 24x7 Learning and full-service interactive agency WebChutney.
Tagra will be overseeing Capital18âs media vertical for equity investments and initiatives across platforms within the Mukesh Ambani-led Group. He will report to Puneet Singhvi, head of corporate development, at Capital18.
Tagra was instrumental in Times Group's investments in several early-stage businesses. He was also responsible for BC GSV labs business, a joint venture between BCCL and US-based Global Silicon Valley.
Tagra previously also worked with Reliance Retail and The Friedman Group.
