Mumbai-based Spunk Media Pvt Ltd, which runs the online mobile billing aggregator Qubecell, has raised an undisclosed amount in seed funding from multiple investors. The round was led by Kae Capital, with participation from Mumbai Angels, Blume Ventures and Russian investor TA Ventures. The funding was first reported by MediaNama and according to media reports, it happened in December last year.
Set up in 2012, Qubecell offers mobile payment services through carrier billing. It also caters to mobile app developers and mobile publishers, providing a bouquet of services such as event billing and daily, weekly or monthly subscriptions at various price points. Plus, there is an analytics platform that offers real-time customer information to merchants, based on device, browser, network, location, historical behaviour and more.
Qubecell has already integrated its services with all leading operators in India and is now looking to expand into other emerging markets, according to its website.
There are similar solutions available in the market and one significant name is InMobi SmartPay, a performance-based global mobile payments solution for app developers. SmartPay was launched in May last year and also offers post-click performance optimisation. Paytm, too, has recently added bill payment services to its kitty.
