Israeli equity crowdfunding platform OurCrowd and Indian deals platform LetsVenture are collaborating to invest in startups in the two countries and elsewhere.
The two companies will tap into family funds, affluent individuals and other investors to raise a corpus for investing in startups, according to a press statement.
OurCrowd will offer curated deals to Indian investor syndicates managed by LetsVenture as part of this partnership. It will also showcase Indian startups on OurCrowdâs platform, giving them access to investors globally and providing business development opportunities, the statement said.
âIndia is a critical growth market for our business with a huge number of very exciting startup investment opportunities in a range of sectors,â said Jon Medved, CEO at OurCrowd.
OurCrowd selects opportunities, invests its own capital and brings companies to its member investors. The 20,000-strong investor community has invested over $450 million into 120 portfolio companies and funds. The company has struck 13 exits to dateâtwo via initial share sales and 11 via acquisitions.
LetsVenture co-founder and CEO Shanti Mohan said the partnership with OurCrowd aligns with its vision of offering its investors access to some of the best startups across regions, including Israel, along with giving its portfolio companies access to global investors for their next round of funding.
The Indian funding platform will also facilitate take-to-market activities for OurCrowdâs portfolio companies to access the Indian market. The initiatives will begin in 2018.
LetsVenture had recently raised funding from former chief product officer at Snapdeal, Anand Chandrasekaran.
In October 2015, LetsVenture had raised an undisclosed amount in Series A funding from Accel Partners, People Groupâs Anupam Mittal and 16 other investors.
A number of startups, such as Amigobulls, Belita, Inkmonk, Ketto, PosterGully, iTraveller, Aureus Analytics and Testbook.com, have raised funding via LetsVenture. Over the past four years, the platform has helped 105 startups raise $42 million.
