Law firm JSA promotes nine lawyers as retained partners

Gurgaon-headquartered law firm J Sagar Associates (JSA) has promoted nine of its lawyers—one from Delhi, two from Gurgaon and six from Mumbai—as retained partners.

Those who have been elevated include Vibha Dhawan (Delhi), Smita Singh and Sujoy Bhatia (Gurgaon) and Ashni Roy, Vikrant Patwardhan, Uttara Kolhatkar, Gautam Gandotra, Arka Mukherjee, Shailesh Shukla (Mumbai).

Delhi – Dhawan’s practice ranges from general corporate commercial to regulatory and policy which cover telecom, electricity and competition. Prior to joining JSA, she was working as an associate with Amarjit Singh Chandhiok, senior advocate and additional solicitor general of India.

Gurgaon – Singh specialises in indirect tax and regulatory laws while Bhatia has extensive experience in the setting up of joint ventures in India in sectors such as insurance, defence and manufacturing.

Mumbai – Roy’s, Kolhatkar’s and Mukherjee's practice covers diverse areas of corporate commercial law. Before JSA, Roy worked with AZB & Partners, Mumbai for over five years and Kolhatkar with Crawford Bayley & Co while Mukherjee joined JSA after graduating from University of Pune in 2006.

Patwardhan was with JSA for over six years and then worked with Amarchand & Mangaldas for a year-and-half, and recently rejoined JSA with the firm’s projects and regulatory practice in Mumbai.

Gandotra specialises in M&A deals, both, domestic and cross-border while Shukla joined from AZB & Partners.

JSA is one of the leading law firms with a pan-India presence and currently employs more than 270 lawyers and consultants, including more than 70 partners.

Other law firms including Khaitan & Co and Trilegal have also recently promoted lawyers as partners.
