Gurgaon-headquartered law firm J Sagar Associates (JSA) has elevated four lawyers as retained partners across its branch offices, the company said in a statement. The promotions are effective from April 1, 2015.
These include Mary Julie John in Bangalore, Kanan Rahul in Mumbai while Arpita Garg and Vishal Anand are in the firm's Delhi office.
With this, the number of JSA's retained partners increased to 50.
The law firm also has Mahadev Prakash as ‘of counsel’ in the Bangalore office; 23 attorneys have also been elevated to senior associates, including one senior knowledge management associate, across its offices.
John, who joined JSA in 2009, specialises in mergers & acquisitions, corporate finance, commercial contracts and corporate real estate. Prior to joining JSA, she worked with M&C Partners and AZB & Partners.
Garg practices in banking & finance and general corporate commercial areas. She has advised clients in banking & finance related transactions including syndicated lending (secured & unsecured), domestic & external commercial borrowings, project financing, acquisition financing and debt restructuring.
Previously, she worked with ICICI Bank in the corporate legal department.
Anand specialises in regulatory advisory and dispute resolution and has played advisory role in matters relating to the electricity sector. Before joining JSA, he was working with Trilegal where he represented power generation and distribution firms.
Rahul joined JSA from ICICI Bank and is a part of the banking and finance team.
“This follows our recent induction of eight equity partners. The partnership is committed to induct partners in a structured manner. We are not a firm which is preserve of a family or any individual and we will continue to build our firm’s collegial model," said Berjis Desai, senior partner, JSA.
JSA employs more than 350 lawyers and consultants including 82 partners.
