Gurgaon-headquartered law firm J Sagar Associates (JSA) has appointed Varun Sriram as a retained partner, the company said in a statement. His appointment is effective from July 1, 2015 and he will be based in the firm's Chennai office.

With this, the number of JSA's retained and equity partners increased to 78. In April, the law firm had promoted four lawyers—Mary Julie John, Kanan Rahul, Arpita Garg and Vishal Anand.

Sriram, who specialises in private equity, venture capital, domestic and cross border M&As, joined JSA from HSB Partners, a Chennai-based advisory firm where he was principal associate.
