This is the second major hire by DMD Advocates (formerly known as Dutt Menon & Dunmorrsett) within a week after Jeremy Lynn Chagas Pereira joined its litigation team. The firm, founded by Anuradha Dutt and Fereshte Sethna, now has 11 partners and 65 lawyers.

DMD Advocates was in the limelight after it helped Vodafone Group Plc in its fight against a $2.2 billion tax bill. In January 2012, the Supreme Court had ruled in favour of the telecom major, saying the firm was not liable to pay pending capital gains tax.

Currently, the firm is advising Formula One World Championship Ltd in the Supreme Court in a dispute pertaining to letters of credit issued by British lenders Lloyds Bank Plc and Royal Bank of Scotland in favour of Axis Bank Ltd. The law firm is also advising brothers Malvinder and Shivinder Singh, promoters of Fortis Healthcare Ltd, against Japanese drugmaker Daiichi Sankyo Company Ltd.
