Law firm J Sagar Associates Advocates and Solicitors has promoted Amit Kapur as senior partner with effect from 1 April 2017. Kapur is currently a partner and leads the firmâs infrastructure and regulatory practices.
Kapur is being named senior partner in place of Berjis Desai, who will retire in March.
The firm said in a statement that Kapur has taken the responsibility of leading the firm's strategy and that the firmâs senior partners and joint managing partners will collaborate on implementing strategy as well as external events and internal interface.
Kapur has been a partner with JSA since 2000 and has anchored its infrastructure practice since 1997. He also chairs the regulatory and policy practice, which includes energy, transport, municipal infrastructure projects and social development projects. He has been worked on several precedent-setting projects such as Delhi electricity privatization, metro rail projects in Mumbai and Delhi and the first three ultra-mega power projects, says the firmâs website.
Bithika Anand, founder and CEO of consultancy and management advisory firm âLegal League Consulting, said the latest appointment is strategic in nature and will benefit JSA.
Last year, the firm had formed an executive committee for three years to run the firm. Kapur is a member of this committee. Its other members are competition practice head Amitabh Kumar, Murli Ananthsivan, Venkatesh Prasad, and JSAâs joint managing partners.
The firm had named Dina Wadia in Mumbai and Shivpriya Nanda in Delhi joint managing partners of the firm last year. JSA has 84 partners and about 300 lawyers.
