India's education market is growing at 10-20% and may reach $200 billion in a few years, said Sandeep Aneja, managing partner, Kaizen Private Equity, dismissing the muted volume growth in the sector this year. According to VCCEdge, the data research platform of News Corp VCCircle, the number of deals in the sector fell to 42 so far this year from 81 last year.

"In India, education is the second-largest spend for most households compared with the US where it is the seventh–largest spend," he told VCCircle on the sidelines of News Corp VCCircle Education Investment Summit recently.

Aneja also talked about Kaizen's investments from the first fund and the fundraising process for the second fund and gave a glimpse into the private equity firm's exit strategy.
