IDFC Appoints Avista Partners’ Marianne Okland As Independent Director

Financial services firm Infrastructure Development Finance Company Ltd has appointed Norwegian national Marianne Okland as an independent non-executive director on the board, the company has announced on its website.

Before joining IDFC, Okland was the managing director of Avista Partners, a London-based consulting firm specialising in advisory services and capital raising. She is also a non-executive director of Islandsbanki, an Icelandic bank offering retail and corporate banking, besides services related to capital markets and wealth management. It also boasts a special domain expertise in seafood catering and geothermal energy businesses, which forms the core of its overseas strategy.

Okland had extensive experience in debt financing as she had worked with JP Morgan and UBS, focusing on the Nordic debt origination and structuring.

Prior to her banking career, Okland headed the European operations of Marsoft, a consulting firm advising large shipping companies, banks and oil and raw material companies on their shipping strategies and investments.

As a new board member of IDFC, Okland will join former Actis chief Donald Peck, IFC’s Dimitris Tsitsiragos and Shardul S Shroff, joint managing partner of the law firm Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co, among others.
