Full-service law firm HSA Advocates (HSA) has named Bharat Sharma as partner for its corporate practice. He will be based out of HSA’s Mumbai office, it said in a statement.

Sharma is the 12th partner in the firm’s corporate commercial practice.

“We want to consolidate and grow our existing areas of practice. The firm already provides the full suite of legal services and now the time has come to expand these areas and be at the forefront of the legal service providers in each of our practice areas,” said Hemant Sahai, founding partner of HSA.

With this appointment, HSA now has 24 partners and associate partners in its partnership collegium, with offices across New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata.

Prior to joining HSA, Sharma was a partner at Naik Naik & Co. He is a solicitor and holds an LL B from K C Law College, University of Mumbai. He also holds a master’s in international finance from Middlesex Business School, London.

With more than a decade of work experience, Sharma specialises in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, joint ventures, corporate restructuring, regulatory advisory and general corporate practice.

He started his career with Crawford Bayley & Co. Advocates & Solicitors in 2003, followed by a stint at Thakore & Associates. He joined Khaitan &  Co in 2010 and led several big-ticket transactions in the corporate M&A and infrastructure space.

Most recently, HSA hired partner Sharath Chandrashekhar at its newly opened Bangalore office.

It also hired Aninda Pal from Juris Corp in Mumbai and changed the firm’s management structure. Khaitan’s Amitabh Sharma has taken over as managing partner of HSA from Hemant Sahai.
