Gurgaon-based medECUBE Healthcare India Pvt Ltd, which helps patients get access to doctors in major hospitals and clinics, has received about $4 million (Rs 27 crore) in Series A funding from US venture capital firm Artiman Ventures, CEO Dilpreet Brar said.
The startup will use the funds mainly to develop technology infrastructure, Brar told VCCircle via email.
It will also use the funds for marketing and working capital for offices it intends to set up, she added.
This is the first funding the company has received since its soft launch in 2015. The startup was formally launched on Thursday.
The company says it offers care coordination concierge services to Indian, non-resident Indians and international patients. It has tied up with various hospital chains including Max Healthcare, Fortis, Apollo, Medanta and Artemis. It also helps patients get second opinions from medical experts.
"The company has been able to initiate creation of the most comprehensive second opinion platform, already comprising over 100 leading specialists from the US, UK, Germany and is continuing to expand its base," said Ajit Singh, managing director and general partner at Artiman Ventures.
Artiman, an early-stage venture fund, is currently investing from its fourth fund of about $300 million that closed last year, Singh said.
The fund previously invested in Gurgaon-based Core Diagnostics Pvt Ltd, which focuses on oncology and cardiology segments. It has also put money in Bangalore-based Tonbo Imaging (earlier known as Serial Innovations India Pvt Ltd), which develops imaging technology for armed forces.
