HDFC Standard Life, a joint venture between housing finance institution HDFC Ltd and Britain’s Standard Life Insurance, has appointed Amitabh Chaudhry as the new CEO, according to a company statement. The post was vacant for over a year after Deepak Satwalekar left in November 2008.
Chaudhry is a former MD & CEO of Infosys BPO. He quit Infosys in November 2009, weeks after driving the buy of US-based outsourcing service provider McCamish Systems by Infosys.
Chaudhry, a former investment banker, joined the back office unit of India's second largest software exporter Infosys Technologies Ltd in 2003, and was elevated to the position of CEO in 2006. Before joining Infosys, Chaudhry was head of the investment banking at Credit Lyonnais Securities in South East Asia and structured finance practice for Asia.
He holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
