Kishore Biyani-led Future Group has reshuffled the portfolios of some top executives and hired a new marketing head to boost revenue growth at its consumer, supply chain and retail businesses.
The group has appointed Devendra Chawla as the chief executive of Future Consumer Ltd and PV Seshadri as the CEO of Future Supply Chain Solutions Ltd, a spokesperson said in response to an email query by VCCircle.
The group also appointed Jishnu Sen the new chief marketing officer of Future Retail Ltd, the spokesperson said.
Chawla headed the groupâs food and consumer goods business. An alumnus of Harvard Business School, he had worked with Asian Paints and Coca-Cola before joining Future Group in early 2009.
Future Consumer offers a range of products that include Tasty Treat (processed food), Nilgiris (dairy and bakery), Sunkist (beverages), Swiss Tempelle (personal care), Kara (beauty-on-the-go) and CleanMate (home care). It distributes its products through retail chains such as Future Groupâs Big Bazaar, EasyDay, Heritage and Nilgiris outlets as well as Metro Cash & Carry and Tesco Star Bazaar.
Future Consumer last week entered into a joint venture with Tilda Hain India Pvt Ltd, part of the US-based organic food company Hain Celestial Group Inc., to make food items in the health and wellness category in India.
Seshadri was so far chief operating officer of the logistics business. He has nearly two decades of experience and worked with Welspun Retail, Pantaloon Retail and Grasim Industries before joining Future Group in 2006.
Sen was earlier working as the CEO of advertising firm Grey India. He will report to Sadashiv Nayak, the CEO of hypermarket chain Big Bazaar, according to The Economic Times, which first reported the appointments.
Future Group has sealed numerous merger and acquisition deals to expand its operations. Last November, the group entered the wholesale business by tying up with the UK-based Booker Group.
Earlier that month, it had acquired the retail and allied businesses of Hyderabad-based Heritage Foods Ltd.
Future Group, the second-biggest brick-and-mortar retailer after billionaire Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Retail Ltd, had earlier acquired Big Apple and Bharti Retail. It had purchased Nilgiris, a South India-based chain, in November 2014.
