Freshdesk acquires visual collaboration platform Framebench

San Francisco- and Chennai-based cloud-based customer support software Freshdesk Inc has acquired Pune-based visual collaboration platform Framebench for an undisclosed sum.

As part of the transaction, the Framebench team will join Freshdesk’s office at Chennai.

“While we're not accepting any more signups, Framebench will continue to work as is for all current customers,” Rohit Agarwal, CEO of Framebench stated on the now deactivated website.

In an interview to Techcircle.in earlier this month, Freshdesk’s CEO Girish Matrubootham had revealed that the company had made its fourth acquisition.

“While do not have a grand plan for acquisitions, we are on the constant lookout for smart teams that have the right cultural fit. We also make sure that our acquirees have a product or technology which cannot be developed overnight. Our acquisitions address different case scenarios,” Matrubootham had said in that interview.

Founded in March 2012, by BITS Pilani alumni Rohit Agarwal and Vineet Markan, Framebench Technologies Pvt Ltd runs an online collaboration platform that enables teams to share, review, and comment on videos, images, presentations, and documents. Framebench, which also received an undisclosed sum in funding from Blume Ventures had over 1000 clients and had HBO, Prime Focus Studios, Unilever, the Republican Party of the US, Kenwood and Star TV among its customers.

“The acquisition of Framebench presents an opportunity to integrate collaborative capabilities not only into Freshdesk, but also other products like Freshservice,” said Mathrubootham in a statement.

Founded in 2010 by former Zoho employees Girish Matrubootham and Shan Krishnasamy, Freshdesk is a SaaS-based startup that provides cloud-based customer support solutions. Its flagship product Freshdesk allows organisations to support customers through email, phone, websites, mobile apps, forums and social media. Freshdesk is used by companies ranging from startups to enterprises.

This latest acquisition by Freshdesk marks its fourth acquisition since August last year and comes around two months after it customer support platform Konotor for an undisclosed amount.

In October 2015, Freshdesk acquired social recommendation platform Frilp.

In August, the SaaS-based customer support firm acquired video chat software 1Click.io for an undisclosed amount amount.
