In June, Veena left Juris Corp along with Sandeep Mahapatra, Debanjan Banerjee and Abhinav Surana.
An alumnus of National Academy of Legal Studies & Research, Hyderabad, Veena started her career with Juris Corp in 2004. Later, she worked with US law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP and ICICI Bank before rejoining Juris Corp in 2008.
âVeena will help expand our expertise and reach in the banking, restructuring and insolvency & bankruptcy practice in Mumbai and Gujarat,â said Shardul S Shroff, executive chairman of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas. âShe is a value addition to our team as she brings her experience in India and abroad,â Shroff said.
âVeena is a team player and knows banking sector not only from a legal perspective but in terms of commercial practicality. This will make her best suited for advising on insolvency and bankruptcy code,â said the managing partner of a Mumbai-based law firm.
Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas has been attracting top talent ever since the split of the erstwhile Amarchand Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co in May 2015.
In April, the law firm hired five partners and 30 lawyers from smaller rival BMR Legal in one of the biggest instances of poaching in the legal space.
Currently, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas has close to 100 partners and around 470 lawyers.
