The founder of carpooling app iRideShare and former head of marketing analytics at Fidelity India Pratul Chopra has joined Flipkartâs senior leadership team. At Fidelity, Chopra had worked under Nitin Seth, former country head of Fidelity in India and currently Flipkartâs chief operating officer. Chopra joined on Monday and will be part of strategy deployment.
Chopra confirmed the move to Techcircle but declined to elaborate. His exact role and function are not clarified. A Flipkart spokesperson did not respond to an email query.
Flipkart has been revamping its senior leadership team under its new chief executive Kalyan Krishnamurthy and Seth, which has resulted in an unusually high churn.
Meanwhile, it has turned out that Chopraâs own startup iRideShare, operated by P2P Analytics and Services Pvt Ltd, has ceased operations. Chopra confirmed that the company stopped its services sometime in 2016. iRideShare, which was founded in 2015 is said to have been seed funded by YepMe founders Sandeep Sharma and Vivek Gaur. However, more details are not available about this.
iRideShare was operating in Delhi, competing with Bla Bla Car, Ola and Uber.
Chopra, an IIT Delhi and IIM Bangalore alumni, worked in various leadership roles at Fidelity for 10 years before briefly running his own startup. Flipkartâs Seth was Fidelity country head for six years from 2010, and Chopra used to report to him.
