In yet another instance of industry veterans joining startups, former Dell India president and MD Sameer Garde has joined as head of global alliance, strategy and partnership at analytics startup IQLECT founded by former Jabong CTO Sachin Sinha.
IQLECT has built a software-converged platform that enables data analytics in real time for businesses. It is backed by US investors including Cadence Design Systems CEO Lip-Bu Tan, former Flextronics CEO Michael Marks and former Flextronics CTO Nicholas Brathwaite besides Exfinity Ventures led by former Infosys CFO V Balakrishnan. Ganapathy Subramaniam, venture partner, Walden International, is another investor in the firm. IQLECT has developed a converged box besides offering its analytic platform on cloud as a SaaS product.
Sachin Sinha, founder and CEO of IQLECT, said he is excited about an industry veteran joining the firm to lead its next phase of growth. He said Garde would also head sales for Asia-Pacific for IQLECT.
Garde joins the list of corporate executives who have left senior positions at big companies to join new generation VC-backed tech and internet companies. Hari Vasudev, who headed India R&D of Yahoo, had joined Flipkart as senior vice president, engineering, in April 2015. Rajiv Bansal quit Infosys to become CFO of taxi aggregator Ola.
An IIT Delhi and IIM Calcutta alumnus Garde had also held positions such as president, South Asia at Philips India and country head of enterprise business at Samsung India. Before becoming Dell India MD, he held positions such as director sales and vice president of global OEM business.
Garde joins IQLECT at a time when the startup is looking to increase engagement with big enterprise customers. âI have had 26 years of corporate life. What IQLECT is trying to do is path-breaking and I hope I can add value,â he said. Garde is also a mentor and investor in a few startups.
