Private equity firm Everstone Capital has appointed Bhavna Thakur as head of capital markets and exits across both private equity and real estate investment platforms, it said on Thursday. She will be based in the company's Mumbai office.
Thakur, who has more than one-and-a-half decades of corporate finance, investment banking, M&A and capital markets experience, joins the firm after a one-year stint at her own startup funding and advisory firm UWant.
Previously, she had quit Citigroup after a five-year tenure as head of transaction services and later as head of equity capital markets.
In the past, she has worked with companies like Morgan Stanley, Wharton & Garrison LLP and Davis Polk and Wardwell LLP.
"Her deep experience in the financial markets, both in India and beyond, will be a tremendous asset to the firm as we build a dedicated capital markets and exits group to work with our portfolio companies," said L Brooks Entwistle, partner and CEO, Everstone Group.
She holds an BA LLB (Honors) from National Law School of India University and a master’s in Law from Columbia University.
Last month, India- and Southeast Asia-focused PE firm Everstone roped in Roshini Bakshi and Rajev Shukla as managing directors of the PE team.
Singapore-headquartered Everstone, co-founded by Sameer Sain and Atul Kapur, has been an active PE investor in the country and is currently raising a new PE fund. It employs more than 180 people across its five offices in Singapore, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Mauritius.
