Equifax’s Sriram Kalyanaraman named CEO of National Housing Bank

The government has appointed Sriram Kalyanaraman as managing director (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) of National Development Bank for five years, making him one of the rare private sector professionals to head a PSU financial institution.

PSUs are usually headed by civil servants.

Earlier, Leo Puri took over as CEO of UTI Mutual Fund.

Kalyanaraman, who has over two-and-a-half years of experience in Indian banking and finance industry, is currently working with Equifax Credit Information Services as director - business development.

Prior to joining Equifax, he was the director and head - business clients and asset products at Deutsche Bank, India. Previously, Kalyanaraman worked with Standard Chartered Bank for 17 years, where he held several leadership roles across business units and also worked with Sundaram Finance Ltd in its corporate leasing division.

He did his master’s in Business Administration from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.

Set up in 1988, National Housing Bank is wholly-owned by Reserve Bank of India.
