Jordan officially known as the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is a beautiful country full of natural and historical treasures on the East Bank of the River Jordan. A relatively small country situated at the crossroads of the Middle East. Jordans’ diverse terrain and landscape belay its actual size, demonstrating a variety usually found only in large countries.
Jordan has been classified as a country of "high human development" by the 2014 Human Development Report with an "upper middle income" economy.
Tourism accounts for 10%–12% of the country's Gross National Product. In 2010, there were 8 million visitors to Jordan. The result was $3.4 billion in tourism revenues, $4.4 billion if medical tourists are included. Jordan offers everything from world-class historical and cultural sites like Petra and Jerash to to modern entertainment in urban areas such as Amman. Moreover, wellness tourism and water activities can be enjoyed at Dead Sea and Aqaba. Religious tourists visit Mount Nebo, the Baptist Site at Bethany beyond Jordan, and the mosaic city of Madaba.

Population: Around 70% of Jordan’s the population live in urban areas, with 2.3 millions living in the capital, Amman. Jordanians are very warm, friendly and hospitable and will go out of their way to help tourists.
Language: The official language of Jordan is Arabic, but English is widely spoken especially in the cities. Many Jordanians have traveled, or have been educated abroad, so French, German, Italian and Spanish are also spoken, but to a lesser extent.
Speaking Arabic is easier than you might think; attempting a few basic words will gain you respect from the locals and is a good way to break the ice.
Time: India is two hours and 30 minutes ahead of Jordan.
Weather: Jordan is blessed with a Mediterranean climate through the year. Amman is sunny and cloudless from May to October, with average temperatures around 23C (73F). Springtime brings optimal weather, lush with greenery, and autumn equally mild and pleasant. July and August are hot and dry but not oppressive. Because of the capital citys levation, evenings are cool. Aqaba and the Jordan Valley are ideal winter resorts, with temperature averaging 16-22C (61-72F) between November and April.
Visa & Flights: According to a new rule passed by the Tourism ministry visa fees for tourists of all nationalities coming through Jordanian tour operators whether travelling individually or in groups has been waived. The visa fee will be waived on a condition that the traveler spends a minimum of two consecutive nights in Jordan. Visa fees for tourists entering Jordan through land borders has been reduced from 40 JOD to 10 JOD with a condition that the tourist spends a minimum of three consecutive nights. Flight connections between India and Jordan are available with an intermediate stop; as Jordan is very well-connected to India via all the Middle Eastern carriers.
