DocPlexus, a social networking platform for doctors, has secured about $700,000 (Rs 4.6 crore) in seed funding from Uniqorn Ventures and Austria-based ASP Consulting.

Pune-based DocPlexus Online Services Pvt Ltd, the company which owns the network, will use the money to get more doctors onto the platform and launch its iOS app, it said in a statement.

“DocPlexus intends to become the solitary platform for the medical community to connect and engage with each other towards a better healthcare practice," said founder Phanish Chandra.

The company, set up in June 2014 by IIT-Kharagpur alumnus Chandra, claims that around 15 per cent doctors in India use its platform and that it has registered around 100,000 doctors from 83 specialities across 1,500 locations.

The platform allows doctors to connect with experts across specialties to receive feedback on medical cases. It also provides relevant news feeds for doctors and enables information sharing.

The startup claims to have doctors from hospitals such as Apollo, Max, Fortis and AIIMS on its platform. DocPlexus would compete with online ventures such as Curofy and PlexusMD.

ASP Consulting helps firms with M&A transactions, reorganisation, financial restructuring, post-merger integration and other services. It also makes equity investments in emerging enterprises.
