In its efforts to strengthen its Institutional Banking Group (IBG), Singapore based DBS Bank has announced four major appointments in India.
Vivek Batra, presently Head of Institutional Banking Group (IBG), India, will assume responsibility as Global Head of Sales for Transaction Banking. He will relocate to Singapore and operate from the headquarters of DBS Group.
Sanjeev Lall, presently Head of Branhes, India will take on additional responsibilities as Head of Institutional Banking Group (IBG), in the country and will be designated as Head of IBG & Branches, India, and will continue to operate from DBS Bank India head office in Mumbai.
Probal Banerjee, presently Head of Bangalore branch will move to Mumbai as the Head of IBG for large corporates.
Deepak Pothan, presently Senior Relationship Manager, IBG, in Bangalore, will take over from Probal Banerjee as the new Head of Bangalore branch.
The appointments take effect from January 1, 2013.

As Global Head of Sales for Transaction Banking, Vivek will be responsible for top line revenue growth, all client-facing activities of the GTS (Global Transaction Services) team and collaborating with the product team on building new capabilities. This role also works closely with relationship managers across the region in developing client and segment strategies, account coverage models, and key client acquisition/structuring.
Vivek is currently the Head of IBG in India and serves on the India Management Committee. He has been with DBS for over seven years and has experience in corporate banking and building client relationships. He has worked in various leadership roles at HSBC across Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi and has also had a stint with the Kotak Group in its Capital Markets/Securities team.
Currently Head of Branches, India, Sanjeev will assume responsibility for IBG in his new role as Head IBG & Branches, India. Sanjeev joined DBS Bank India in April 2004 and was instrumental in establishing the bank’s Enterprise Banking (Middle Market and SME) business in India. In 2009, he moved into his present role as Head, Branches and is responsible for managing and leading the revenue goals of all branches across customer facing businesses in addition to the overall corporate governance, business and service delivery, cost management and growth of the franchise.
Probal joined DBS in August 2008 from ABN AMRO Bank to start the Bangalore branch with a team of seven, which has now grown to 52, serving over 1,200 clients, said the company.
Pothan has been a key member of the team that led the growth of IBG business in Bangalore.
