Credit Suisse director Sandeep Gupta joins IDFC as MD, corporate finance

IDFC Ltd, a leading infrastructure finance company, has appointed Credit Suisse director Sandeep Gupta as the managing director of its corporate finance division.

In his new role, Gupta will look after financial services and financial sponsors, and will report to IDFC Capital CEO Tapasije Mishra, who also heads the corporate finance division.

This is the third senior level appointment of the firm in this month. It has recently promoted Vikram Limaye as MD & CEO and Rajiv Lall as executive chairman.

Gupta has around 18 years of experience in investment banking and prior to joining Credit Suisse, he was working with the private equity firm Actis. He was based at the Mumbai office of Credit Suisse and played a key role in executing the $650 million Alliance Tire deal when PE major KKR & Co acquired a controlling stake in ATG Group from Warburg Pincus. Gupta also worked with Lehman Brothers as a vice-president covering financial sponsors. He has done an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, US.

Starting as an infrastructure finance company, IDFC has diversified over the years and has presence across various financial services segments including mutual fund, private equity advisory and broking, among others.
