  • 06 Jan 2012

We are proud to announce the launch of VCCircle Awards 2012, which will recognise and celebrate the impact of private equity and venture capital on Indian businesses, to be held on the evening of February 14, 2012. The debut awards will be held on the eve of VCCircle’s flagship annual event VCCircle India Limited Partners Summit 2012 (February 15-16 at the same venue), which will see a gathering of some of the top global and Indian private equity investors.

The awards, which will be held annually, will pick the most outstanding Indian companies who have not only had a tremendous growth in their respective industries but also had a longstanding impact on the economy in general. For this year's awards, we will pick companies who have had at least one round of funding between 2007and 2011. And the awards are given in two categories - venture capital and private equity.

The awards will also recognise the best intermediaries - law firms and investment banks - who have facilitated most such investments. The timeframe for awards for investment banks and law firms categories will be 2011.

METHODOLOGY

Collation & Assessment of Nomination Forms

All nominations received by January 13, 2012 will be collated based on the award category they belong to. The nomination forms will then be checked for completeness of information sought in the form. Please ensure the nomination form is complete and accurate in all respects, failing which the nomination will be rejected.

Elementary Screening

Nominations in each category would then be put through an elementary screening to arrive at the Top 7 contenders for that category, which will be evaluated on the basis of percentage growth in revenue, market share, and the impact on the industry.

Performance Benchmarking

Shortlisted nominations will then be scrutinized for performance on a metric pegging the nominee’s performance against industry-specific benchmarks and that of its peers. Financial performance will be judged on a variety of parameters including growth in revenue and profitability, and their sustainability, and the return generated on the investment. Besides financial performance, companies will also be assessed on certain qualitative aspects including market traction and brand value, existing and estimated market share, disruptive & innovative models and products impacting the industry and leading to its expansion, and the impact on economy in general.

Evaluation by Jury

The qualifying three nominations (and their detailed information dockets) in each category would be shared with the jury members ahead of the jury meet. The jury would meet on the scheduled day to debate and decide on the winners in each category.

Jury members

Our jury chairman is Arun Duggal, who is currently chairman of Shriram Capital Ltd. The members include Luis Miranda, who was earlier chairman and of IDFC Private Equity, Sri Rajan, Partner, Bain & Co, and Dr Ajay Shah, Professor, National Institute for Public Finance and Policy. The jury will be assisted by VCCircle and VCCEdge teams in research and validation of data.
